‘Carmen Woods’ is a luxury leather handbag label. We create designs that are beautiful, interesting and wearable, with a true artisan identity. Our label reflects on the time Carmen spent in Ravenna, Italy, working as a fashion designer. She drew inspiration from the intricate Byzantine mosaics, which covered the city’s buildings and walkways, eventually using patch work and pleating techniques to express this through her designs. In addition to our core collection, we offer a bespoke service to all clients who wish to adapt existing styles to specifically suit their needs. Our beautiful boutique is based in an original Art Deco building, situated amongst the quirky and charming shops on the Essex coastline of Leigh-on-Sea.

Catherine Jane, an established San Francisco designer with a flawless appreciation for fit and fabric closed her brick and mortar boutique and design studio after 22 years in retail. “In the past years I have watched the speed at which trends come and go accelerate, seen the shop online industry explode and witnessed the demand for cheaply produced clothing increase exponentially. It was time for me to make a change as well.” Today, Catherine Jane has changed course, not to fit in with the current model which presides in the fashion industry but to stand out.
